VascVersa, the advanced therapeutics company developing next-generation treatments to regenerate the micro-vasculature of the retina, today announced that it has secured new equity funding from its existing shareholders. This marks the third round of equity support for the company, underscoring the sustained confidence of its investor base in VascVersa’s progress and long-term strategy.
VascVersa’s shareholders include QUBIS, the commercialisation arm of Queen’s University Belfast, and Co-Fund NI, managed by Clarendon Fund Managers. Their continued participation reflects strong conviction in the company’s scientific platform and clinical potential.
VascVersa is developing therapies that restore blood flow in retinal tissue damaged by ischaemia, a leading cause of vision loss. Building on research from Queen’s University Belfast, the company has established and patented a robust process for extracting and scaling a rare population of blood-derived vascular-repair cells. This proprietary cell technology, Angicyte®, acts as the “hardware” for VascVersa’s therapeutic designs—providing the biological blueprint for regenerating damaged micro-vasculature.

Complementing this, VascVersa has developed AngiGenix™, a transcriptomic analysis platform that functions as the “software” layer of Angicyte®. By decoding the genetic signature that drives Angicyte®’s regenerative performance, AngiGenix™ opens the door to a new class of genetic therapies targeting a patient’s own vascular cells.
The company is positioned to advance towards first-in-human studies using therapeutic designs that are differentiated from currently approved medicines for treating vision loss, based on the unique combination that these platforms afford.
VascVersa has demonstrated that Angicyte® can be manufactured at the scale and quality required for clinical transplantation. With the highly versatile properties of Angicyte® for regenerating damaged micro-vessels, the company anticipates significant opportunities for partnering with other companies in the cell and tissue therapeutics sector.
“The continued commitment of our shareholders is a strong endorsement of the progress we are making. Their support enables us to accelerate development of both Angicyte® and AngiGenix™, and to move closer to delivering transformative therapies for patients experiencing vision loss caused by ischaemia.” Aidan Courtney, Chairman of VascVersa, “Our platform combines a powerful cell-based therapy with deep genetic insight. This investment allows us to advance both elements in parallel and strengthen the scientific foundation for future clinical programmes. A company representative will be attending the BIO International Convention 2026 in San Diego, the largest and most comprehensive event for biotechnology, representing the full ecosystem of biotech from across the globe and is looking forward to meeting potential business partners interested in accessing our unique technologies” Dr Tim Allsopp, Chief Technology Officer
